Salvation for the Nations

The Good News announced by Jesus of Nazareth offers salvation and true life to men and women of every nation and nationality.

Jesus claimed that โ€œall authority in Heaven and on Earth is given to me, therefore, go and make disciples of all nations!โ€ He sent his disciples to announce his Lordship and Salvation to the โ€œends of the Earth,โ€ to every nation. With Christโ€™s Death and Resurrection, the Era of Salvation commenced, therefore, his life-giving message must be announced to all men and every people. The Son of God has achieved salvation for humanity!

Then Comes the End

In explaining the resurrection, Paul lists key events that will precede or coincide with the arrival of Jesus at the close of the present age.

Paul outlined the events that will occur at or shortly before the โ€œarrivalโ€ of Jesus in 1 Corinthians. The Greek noun โ€˜Parousiaโ€™ or โ€œarrivalโ€ is one of several terms Paul applies to the future coming of the Lord in his letters. Regardless of which term is used, the Apostle always refers to one โ€œcoming,โ€ one โ€œappearance,โ€ one โ€œrevelationโ€ and one โ€œappearanceโ€ of the Son of God, not two or more.

An Idolatrous Conceit

โ€˜Christendomโ€™ is the idolatrous term used to invoke God to support national and political institutions, programs, agendas, and ideologies.

The English term โ€˜Christendomโ€™ in popular usage refers to โ€œthat part of the world in which Christianity prevails,โ€ either because most of the nationโ€™s citizens claim to be โ€œChristian,โ€ or because a specific church is recognized by the State as its official religion. That nation becomes identified as โ€œChristian,โ€ it is one of the โ€œChristian nationsโ€ of the world as opposed to the less enlightened peoples and cultures of the planet.

The Light of the World

Jesus is the only true Light of the World, and his light shines all the brighter amidst the darkness that tyrannizes the present age. All competing claims are false.

โ€œLifeโ€ is found in the โ€œWordโ€ or โ€˜Logosโ€™ (ฮปฮฟฮณฮฟฯ‚), and this life is the โ€œLight of men.โ€ The Light is โ€œshining in the darkness,โ€ and the darkness โ€œcannot seizeโ€ or suppress it. This same โ€œWordโ€ has become the Living Word of God in Jesus of Nazareth, in whom the glory, salvation, and life of God are manifested for all men to see – (John 1:1).

Salvation and Resurrection

Central to the hope of the Apostolic Faith is the future bodily resurrection of the dead, which is based on the past resurrection of Jesus.

The biblical faith is focused on the future. The doctrine of salvation includes the future resurrection of the dead, which will also mark the arrival of the New Creation. The New Testament links this coming resurrection to two events: The past Resurrection of Jesus, and his โ€œarrivalโ€ or โ€˜Parousiaโ€™ at the end of the present age. Our salvation will remain incomplete until Christ returns and raises us from the dead.
