Day of the Lord, Final Judgment, Parousia

At the Revelation of Jesus

Paulโ€™s second letter to the Thessalonians was written in the months following his departure from the city. The first epistle expressed joy at the good news that the church remained faithful despite persecution. The second one addresses three main issues: Persecution, believers who refuse to work, and questions about the โ€œarrivalโ€ of Jesus.

HIS PAROUSIA – VINDICATION OR CONDEMNATION

The โ€œcomingโ€ of Jesus will mean the vindication of the righteous, and the judgment and condemnation of the wicked.ย

In the New Testament, several Greek terms are applied to the return of Jesus at the end of the present age, includingย parousiaย (โ€œarrivalโ€),ย erchomaiย (โ€œcomingโ€), andย epiphaneiaย (โ€œappearanceโ€).
