PROCLAIMING ANOTHER GOSPEL

SYNOPSIS:  The Judaizing opponents of Paul preached a different message and a different Christ than the one they received from the Apostle – Galatians 1:6-12.

The second paragraph marks the start of the body of this letter and an extended section that does not end until well into chapter 4. It can be summarized as a lengthy admonition to the Galatian assemblies concerning the direction they were contemplating, with serious warnings about how it would lead, inevitably, to their apostasy.

BEAST FROM THE EARTH

SYNOPSIS:   The Beast from the earth mimics the Lamb but is the mouthpiece of the Dragon and the Beast from the sea – Revelation 13:11-15.

Earlier, John “heard a great voice in heaven” proclaim victory because of the blood of the Lamb; salvation and the reign of the Messiah had arrived, and the Dragon was cast out of heaven. The voice called on the “heavens and they who tabernacle in them” to rejoice. But the Dragon was not finished, for the voice also declared – “Woe to the earth and the sea, for the Devil is come down to you having great wrath” (Revelation12:9-12). Signs and Wonders or Christ Crucified?

SYNOPSIS:  Claims that God will reap a great harvest of souls because of the mighty “signs and wonders” the church will perform do not square with Scripture.

I hear a lot of stress these days on seeking “signs and wonders.” Seemingly, church “leaders” are convinced, or they want to convince you, that it is through mighty supernatural “signs and wonders” that God will reap a final harvest of souls before the return of Jesus, an idea that does not fit comfortably with the gospel accounts of the New Testament. REPEATED WARNINGS

On Olivet, Jesus reiterated key information that is necessary for his followers to avoid being misled by deceivers.

Christ’s final block of teaching is commonly called his ‘Olivet Discourse,’ a series of instructions given to the disciples shortly before his arrest, trial, and execution. In it, three warnings are repeated that disciples must heed to avoid deceit and disaster, warnings about deceivers, the timing of his return, and the need for constant vigilance.

BEAST AND FALSE PROPHET DESTROYED

The Rider on the White Horse destroyed the “Beast from the sea” along with the “False Prophet,” the “Beast from the earth” – Revelation 19:17-21.

Next, John saw the destruction of the “beast from the sea” and the “False Prophet” at the final battle when the “rider on the white horse” overthrew the forces of “Gog and Magog.” The passage does not state where this occurred, other than on the earth. In focus is the destruction of the “Beast” and its vassals, and their consignment to the “Lake of Fire.”
