The “False Prophet” uses economic power against anyone who refuses to render homage to the World Empire, and the “Mark of the Beast” is his enforcement mechanism. The ability to impose monetary penalties on nations, communities, and individuals is key to the imperial power of the First Beast.

According to Moses, “When the prophet speaks in the name of Yahweh and the word does not come to pass, that is the word Yahweh has NOT spoken.” If this guideline remains applicable, many churches have embraced an interpretive school of prophecy that does not represent what the Bible says, namely, Dispensationalism, and this is demonstrated by its long history of failed predictions, speculations, and expectations.

Over the decades, I have heard credible men of God warn of a coming day when the Church will experience a “famine for the word of God.” At first, I took this to refer to a time when the Bible would be suppressed even in Western-style democracies as governmental authorities sought to persecute the true faith.

Popular preaching often claims that Jesus commanded his disciples to “discern the times and the seasons” so they may know when the end of the age draws near. They must know and understand the “signs” so they can be prepared to meet Jesus on his return. Though we may assume this is an established fact, Jesus never stated anything to this effect. At no place in the New Testament does he command his followers to know all the times, signs, and seasons. He taught them something rather different.

In chapter 13, John sees a “Beast ascending from the Earth,” the “False Prophet.” His intent is to deceive the “inhabitants of the earth.” The first “Beast” that John saw “ascending from the sea” is characterized by its political power. In contrast, the “False Prophet” uses religion and propaganda to deceive, and economic control to suppress anyone who does not submit to the beastly agenda.
