The application of Joelโs prophecy in Acts by Peter links the arrival of the Gift of the Spirit to the onset of the messianic age. With the resurrection and ascension of Jesus and the outpouring of the promised Spirit, the period known as the โlast daysโ commenced on if not before the Day of Pentecost. Moreover, the fulfillment of the prophecy means the inevitability and possibly even the imminence of the โDay of the Lordโ – (Joel 2:28-32, Acts 2:17-21).

The Ends of the Ages
The Apostle links the start of the โlast daysโ with the death and resurrection of the Son of God. The time of fulfillment has arrived, and all Godโs promises now find their โyea and amenโ in him. โIn these last days,โ God has โspokenโ His definitive โwordโ in His Son.
And Paul declares that the church consists of those men and women upon whom the โends of the ages have come.โ While the term โlast daysโ is not frequent in his letters, the Apostle does demonstrate his understanding that Historyโs final era has commenced with the death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth; therefore, nothing will ever be the same again.
