OVERVIEW – The False Prophet employs the economical means to coerce men and women to render homage to the “beast from the sea.”
The “beast from the earth” uses all the economic power of the first “beast” against anyone who refuses to give absolute allegiance to the beastly system. The “number” or “mark of the beast” is an economic tool and a blunt instrument. Commerce is the lifeblood of the empire. And the ability to level economic sanctions against nations, peoples, and individuals is the key to its power.

SYNOPSIS: Humanity is divided into two groups – men who have the mark of the Beast, and those who bear the name of the Lamb’s Father – Revelation 13:16-14:5.
The “mark of the Beast” is the Dragon’s counterfeit of the “seal of God” that is placed on the foreheads of the followers of the Lamb. The “inhabitants of the earth” that take this mark are contrasted with the saints who stand on “Zion” with the Lamb and have his Father’s “name written on their foreheads” (Revelation 7:1-3, 14:1-4, 19:2-5, 22:3-6). SYNOPSIS: The Beast from the earth mimics the Lamb but is the mouthpiece of the Dragon and the Beast from the sea – Revelation 13:11-15.
Earlier, John “heard a great voice in heaven” proclaim victory because of the blood of the Lamb; salvation and the reign of the Messiah had arrived, and the Dragon was cast out of heaven. The voice called on the “heavens and they who tabernacle in them” to rejoice. But the Dragon was not finished, for the voice also declared – “Woe to the earth and the sea, for the Devil is come down to you having great wrath” (Revelation12:9-12). In Revelation, “all” means “ALL.” All men and women that refuse to follow the “Lamb” will render homage to the “beast” and take its “mark.”
Discussions on the “mark of the Beast” focus on the significance of its number – ‘666’ – and understandably so. We wish to understand it, and thus avoid taking it. But to better appreciate the ramifications of taking the “mark,” it is imperative to see how the book of Revelation contrasts the “mark of the beast” with the “seal of God” – (Revelation 7:1-3, 13:16-18).

SYNOPSIS – Next, King Nebuchadnezzar implements his dream by “setting up” a Great Golden Image to glorify his kingdom – Daniel 3:1-30.
In Chapter 3, the King works to make his dream a reality by “setting up” a great golden image that conforms to his vision of an everlasting Babylonian kingdom. However, just as He did with the “tower of Babel” in the “Land of Shinar,” the God of Daniel uses a most unexpected “tool” to thwart the imperial designs of Nebuchadnezzar – His attempt to execute three of the lowly exiles from Judah.
